Emily West is a justice advocate, activist and enthusiast. She is an AmeriCorps volunteer currently serving at-risk youth through Goodwill Industries of Greater Grand Rapids. She is a 2010 Hope College graduate, with focus areas in Math, English and Women’s Studies.
Emily is a queer woman, interested in the relationship between faith and justice. She seeks the liberation of everything because she believes in the beauty of the earth and of the body. She is dedicated to exploring the complicated history of faiths and oppressions. She was raised in the Christian faith tradition and was taught to look for good fruit. She has found good fruit in movements like Hope is Ready, Holland is Ready and Sanctuary Collective, inspiring movements of people who have fostered communities rooted in openness and intentionality.
